How To Highlight Duplicates In Excel

Here is a super easy way to highlight duplicates in Excel. With this procedure, you can highlight duplicates in 2-3 clicks.

Normally, you need to do a bit of re-arranging and formula writing to check if your data has duplicate values. This is the case for many Excel users. I was for me too.

But Excel gives you a powerful tool named conditional formatting that can also highlight duplicates for you. Here is how to do that:

Select the list of data that you want to check for duplicates.

Click on Conditional Formatting on Home ribbon and select Duplicate Values under Highlight Cell Rules menu.

Excel will highlight duplicates immediately and ask you about formatting. Click ok and you are done. You can change the formatting of the highlighting from the dropdown list to the right if you like.
