Pivot Table Field Name Is Not Valid

If you are receiving the message “ Pivot table field name is not valid ” when you are trying to create a pivot table, that means your source data is not suitable. Here is what you need to do to make your data suitable for a pivot table and get rid of this error.

If you are receiving the message “Pivot table field name is not valid” when you are trying to create a pivot table, some of the columns in your source data are missing headers.

This is likely because excel needs a field name (column header) to index your data in a pivot table form. With missing field names, excel cannot index and use your data.

If you just control and fill all the cells on header row, you will not receive this error again.
